Next sessions start the week of July 21st.We will open registration on Tuesday, July 9th for residents and Monday, July 14th for non residents. Did you hear Manchester Parks and Rec is offering lessons at the courts on Summer Street for beginners and for more intermediate players? Please park at Sweeney Park and walk over. Be sure to bring a paddle and water bottle. If you do not have a paddle there is a limited amount of extras that could be used during the session.What Pickleball lesson is for you?Newbie/Beginner Level:New to the pickleball world? Then this is just the right fit for you. We will teach you how to keep score, court positioning and different PB shot. Serves and returns are 40% or less and mobility is limited.Advanced Beginner Level:You know the basics and have a great understanding of pickleball. You know where to stand at the beginning of each point and you can serve in the proper location. You understand the two bounce rules on returns, keep score without mistakes, keeps the ball in play for a few hits and is aware if dink shots, drives and overhead. Shows good mobility and can move around on the court safely. Serves and returns are usually in bounds at least 50% of the time. Intermediate Level:You are 100% knowledgeable of the pickleball basic rules and are award to position yourself on each point. Must get serves and returns in at least 75% of the time. Must attempt to move to the NVZ after return pf serve and not retreat. You are able to successfully hit forehead and backhand vollyes at the NVZ with direction and control regarding height and depth. The clinic will be from 9am to noon each day. This clinic is for boys and girls in grades 1 through 9 (2025-2026 School Year). The sessions will be fun drills that concentrate on dribbling, passing, shooting, proper footwork, and defense. There will be games throughout the morning for all levels. The clinic will be run by the coaching staff, current and former players of the high school team.Coach Tim St. Laurent has been named the Cape Ann Coach of the Year four times in his nine years at Manchester Essex and in 2024 was named Coach of the Year by the Massachusetts High School Coaches Association.  Manchester Essex High School Boys Basketball team have been the Cape Ann League champions 6 of the last 7 seasons, during the last three seasons the team won 40 straight league games.
