Ultimate Frisbee also known as Ultimate has become a popular and exciting, non-contact team sport, played by thousands the world over. It mixes the best features of sports such as soccer, basketball, and American football into an elegantly simple yet fascinating and demanding game. The object is to pass the disc without dropping or interception into an end zone like an American football field. Ultimate Frisbee has been part of our school for 14-years and counting with the only co-ed 6-12 team in the league.
Ultimate traditionally relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship, which places the responsibility of fair play on the player him or herself. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of the bond of mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed-upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play; protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate adverse conduct from the field. Such actions as taunting of opposing players, dangerous aggression, intentional fouling, or other 'win at all costs' behavior are contrary to the spirit of the game and must be avoided by all players.
The purpose of the rules of Ultimate is to provide a guideline, which describes the way the game is played. The integrity of Ultimate depends on each player's responsibility to uphold the spirit of the game, and this responsibility should not be taken lightly!
